I got to meet up with Brian and Jessica and the boys, what a sweet family. The boys were awesome, funny and they rocked the manners. I have to say Brian and Jess have their hands full but they are some awesome kids with awesome parents!..Very nice family Brian and Jess!!

Can't wait for the next photo session..that one I promise I'll do more. So here are some that i got from yesterday and if I hadn't had to fumble thru my memory to remember how to work this camera again, it's been a year since I've picked it up and I stuggled yesterday so I am sorry but there is more photo sessions with you guys!

He is so yummy and loving..love this kid, if i could i'd steal this one!!! haha

Hello again..it's been along time since ive posted anything..I'm excited about getting back to real life and start journaling and feeding you all the things that I come across again..

Let me tell you alittle of what i've been up to and getting back into..giggles!

I've picked my camera back up..haven't had much interest in it for awhile, but got a phone call the other day, wanting me to take family pictures..my mind started racing..oh my I said..I haven't picked my camera up in months..but she asked me if I would do it so I said yes, just to get me out and about again. I started scouting my area for some awesome scenery and seeing it's almost OCTOBER! I thought maybe there would be some fall festival and decorations out. Have found a great location and am looking forward to documenting there family.

Ryleigh is in the 3rd grade this year and seeing that I am home, my husband has encouraged me to start going to school and helping out in her class and to see how she is doing in her new classroom. Im excited about doing this..We have her IEP on the 4 of Oct so i'll know more then.

If you know me, then you know that I've also been taking care of my mom who is suffering from dimentia, she is doing good but it is taking a toll on her. She is
a beautiful woman and if you know my mom she is a caring and loving person and my memories are of just that. Mom has been struggling with this for the last 3 years and she is in her late 70's and my dad has been the sole care taker, but from some recent incidences i've had to talk to my sisters and brothers about maybe an intervention and coming to realization that they are going to need more help than what we can give them. My siblings think that we should let them live in their home and do their own routine as they are use to but this worries me...ME, it worries only because the last year I've been out of touch and maybe im feeling alittle guilty. I just want them to be safe and healthy. I've been doing some research on alhemerize.

Ive been busy getting my home and life organized again and im almost there! giggles!

This morning as I am sitting here drinking my wonderful DD coffee, the smell just makes my mind race..I love the smell of coffee brewing and it takes me back to being at home when my Dad would start a pot of coffee and the moments that come to mind is morning time with him reading the newspaper, drinking his coffee, and eating his toast..isn't that funny how smells brings back some memories of your past..

This is the most recent picture I have of them..the smiles when all of us get together for dinner, makes me happy that they are happy!

I guess i better blog about the new member in our family, since I don't think I have mentioned him here before. My son went to Texas to live for awhile, but when he come home he brought a new member to our family..I am not one to let a pet stay in the house and sleep or be on my furniture, none the less on my bed, but this dog has captured our hearts and he is a big baby and loves to play and is so good with ryleigh and josh wanted him in the house so he wouldn't run away or get stolen...ha but I am in love with this dog..but shhhh don't tell Josh! (giggles)

He's gotten big since he's come home but we love him none the less...

Well the day is getting away from me and I have a shopping trip to attend...giggles..

Curiousity Got Me..For the Color Red

When you think of the word RED, what pops in your head this very instant? Do you think of Love...Peace...War...Violence...Anger...

I got a little curious the other day so I googled Red and the first line it read..”RED IS HOT” “RED IS A STRONG COLOR THAT CONJURES UP A RANGE OF EMOTIONS FROM PASSIONATE TO VIOLENCE AND WARFARE”

As I contemplate in some of your galleries I will see something I like and I'll click on it and then I stopped myself and wonder why I am drawn to this photo..and there it is just a hint of red in it and as I go thru all the photos, the red does capture my attention..Funny how one color can make you feel so many emotions inside and yet it means Love/Hate, Peace/War, Happiness/Anger, opposites of each other, Funny, huh?

What do you feel when you see the color RED? I hope you find the time to comment for me, I am curious and how other people see RED.

When I was asked a few weeks ago to come and join them at the beach, I was extremely excited about going, getting the sunrise pictures and going on photo shoot ride down the beach just sounded like fun to me.
I packed our bags (Ryleigh and I) and headed down south to beautiful Delray Beach!
There was such a quaint feel in this town, everyone was so pleasant, in the morning when we walked down to the ocean, lot of morning walkers and have you ever noticed when people are out at that hour of the morning people are so friendly, maybe it the new day, fresh air and knowing that you are in present of people that want the same things as you do.
We were at the beach by 6:30 AM, and got there just before the sun was coming up from the clouds. It was such a feeling of hope, a new begining, a reason to live!
Here are some photos from my trip.(I have more, but haven't edited them yet so there will be more later!)

Today 24 years ago I was 23 years old, I was getting ready to marry Rick, and starting a new chapter in life.
This morning I was up very early 4:30AM, made coffee and logged onto the computer to check messages and emails.
Rick got up and we're sitting here drinking our coffee, watching the news and were now both logged onto our computers and they said the date for the day and I didn't catch it, but Rick did and yelled "Happy Anniversary!", Wow I have to admit I totally forgot the anniversary! OOPS
While talking he confessed to he'd forgotten but we'll go for dinner tonight to make up for the forgetfulness!
I did get a new fan for my back patio, so I'm happy, when your married that long, I guess just still together means alot.
I really don't have a photo of me and Rick together so here we are!

The Begining of Summer

Ahh, yes the end of the school year the begining of Summer. Most people will plan their family vacation, put kids in programs and parents waiting for the school year to begin.

We'll be planing a vacation, were going to check out the libary for some programs for Ryleigh, and then the school shopping and her returning to a new school next year.

Yes I'm alittle nervous but for Ryleigh she doesn't even know..we have talked to her to let her know she'll be going to a new school but all she says "Ride the school bus!" So I'm not going to worry about it and enjoy our summer.
Everyday she gets notes in her planner and then some paper work, so last night while I was looking thru her folder there was a packet from Ms Kristin, her Occupational Therapist who we absolutely love, and there are list of things for us to incorporate in her routine for the summer here is the list that was sent home.

Here are just some of things will be doing this summer
*Upper Extremity Strengthening
Dusting table, she love this one and cleaning window!
drawing on chalkboard, which she is more than willing to do.
*Bilateral Coordination
buttons or other fasteners
folding towels and clothers
*Visual Perceptual Motor Skills
Magna Doodle, which she has about 6 of them
puzzels
tracing pictures, words, letters, shapes.
*Eye Hand Coordination
pop bubbles floating in air with finger tips
batting and hitting beach balls
*Fine Motor Skills
play dough activities..oh yeah! outside we will be doing this
cutting items such as play dough, sandpaper sponges
*Balance
Hop scotch
standing on one leg for 5-10 sec

There is so much more we need to do but I think I've made my point.

Having a child with a disablity has really enlighten me to how a child needs to be taught and the process of teaching the child in the way he or she may have to learn.
I am so proud of my little girl and she has taken big huge steps in this process this school year.

We love all our children and want to protect them from the world and from the bullies of the world but I got an email from Ms Everson some while back stating "I don't think you need to worry about Ryleigh, she takes up for herself and doesn't let anybody bully her."
Wow I thought, this shy little girl, guess she's going to be just fine.

This morning when I was waiting with Ryleigh, I seen this glowing thru the trees and automatically starting looking thru my viewfinder to get the sun just inbetween the leaves and tree, and here is what I was able to capture.

This reminds me of when I was young, and we had this awesome weeping willow tree at the back of our property that I use to go out and spend time under, reading a book or just wanting to be alone, even back than I liked my alone time!
The sun would glissen through the branches and leaves like this, another painting that God created.

I found this in some old notes I had on my computer.

In the bathroom of a restaurant yesterday:

I'm in one stall.
There's a lady in the stall next to me taking a pee.
There's a lady in the stall next to HER retching.

I'm out first. At the sink, washing my hands. The lady who had been next to me comes out and leans toward the mirror to check her make-up. The lady who was retching comes out, holding a wad of toilet paper to her mouth. She's in uniform so we learn she is an employee of the restaurant.

Retching Lady: I'm sorry ya'll. (Dabs at mouth.) Sorry.
Make-Up Lady: Well if you're sick you shouldn't be here. If you have a stomach virus you should go HOME!
Me: (Drying hands.)
Make-Up Lady: You need to go HOME. You are SICK and I certainly don't want you around MY FOOD. Go HOME if you have a stomach virus!!
Retching Lady: (Steps up to sink to wash face and hands.) I'm sorry.

At this point the Make-Up Lady - the GO HOME - NO GERMS NEAR MY FOOD lady - turns around and slams out of the bathroom. Get this.... without washing her hands. And it's not like she forgot. She had plenty of time before Retching Lady came out of her stall . But no - she checked her make-up and had started to leave when Retching Lady came out. SHE HAD NO INTENTION OF WASHING HER HANDS.

Me: (To Retching Lady) So you're pregnant, huh?
Retching Lady: (Smiling) Yeah. Two months!!

This is a life lesson. Don't be a bitch, and always open the bathroom door by either pulling up your shirt as a barrier between your hand and the handle, or grab some paper towels to cover your hand. (I do both.) You never know when a nasty bitchy dirty lady just walked out.

I love birthday party's especially when they are for your own children, the excitment that they know it's their special day.

This Saturday we had a birthday party for Ryleigh's 7th birthday and she had talked about her birthday for months , so her dad and I wanted to do something special this year..We invited family and friends and her class friends and her Teachers..

One of her friends from school was able to come, the others either had prior comments or were sick. The best surprise for Ryleigh was when she answered the door and there stood her teacher, Ms Everson. The look on Ryleigh face was priceless..that's what I'm talking about..

Then Jenna came and Ms Michelle and Grandma and Pop and Daniel, Vicky and Aunt Nancy and Grandma and Pa and Sissy and Parker who came early to help us with the decorations..She was so excited!

Ms Michelle is like her 2nd mother she loves her to pieces and I think Michelle feels the same.

We had a great day and Ryleigh got alot of nice gifts, and to all that shared and are reading this, Thank you for coming and Thank you for the gift. I hope you enjoy the blog guys!

Sunday Ryleigh and I decided to put some fresh flowers in the house, so we got a Rose from the rose bush and some lavender and she cut the lavender and I cut the rose, then we headed into the house and this is what we put together..it was so fun and she talked about the flowers all day!

These are taken outside by the pool, and the bright sunlight, it looks like it's in a white box, I bumped the contrast up some..they almost look fake but I like them!

Here is work in process that I did to show what a little bighting and contrast can do to a picture here is a before and after photo..

What I did is bumped my contrast and lightened it up some then put a gradient and a little bit of a blur to it and that is about all I did! Whatcha Think???

She Had A Surprise

Today was like any day, but when the bus came to drop Ryleigh back off, she was actually awake and bounced off the bus with a smile and came running and saying " I have a surprise, I have a surprise!" I asked her what it was and she motioned to her backpack to let me know it was in there. When we got into the house we sat down and opened up her backpack and she pulled out this plastic pig..She loves pig's and they have to be Pink but she grabbed him and said "My surprise!" When he was a little boy he was always with his grandpa or PA as we all call him, this week he spent alot of time with his Pa and Grandma..they came up the other day and we sat in the sun for the first time this year and Josh loves the grill so he put some burgers on the grill and did his thing..Pa watching him like he use to when he was a little boy. He loves all his grandparents and I think that is a special bond that any child can have growing up. They tell stories, they don't judge because all they can do is LOVE their grandchild in their own special way. Grandparent are special and if you talk to Josh and ask him what his memories are full of it's the time he spent with his Pa, going with him in the van, picking up sticks before they mowed the lawns, planting flowers with him and sitting on his lap as he read to him.
Here are a few photos I did manage to get while they were at the grill and he leave Saturday and it's breaking my heart because I miss him already! I am so proud of my son for who he has become, how he has learned values, morals and love from being loved by his grandparents and parents who never gave up on him. Even though he dosen't sit on his lap these days he does spend time with his pa and grandma, they talk about all different things, they play cards, and believe it or not they still work in the yard together when Josh is home..

I wish I had a camera

Ok..yesterday was a very eventful day. I lost a little of my pride and just a little bit embarrassed about the whole thing but I got up brushed myself off and took myself home...
When we were kids we use to travel alot with my parents in the summer months and this particular summer we were in Ohio and that is where my oldest brother lives. I was about 11 or 12 and we had pulled the camper in his driveway and they plugged in so we could have electricity and all well it was getting late so Tami and I decided to go out to the camper and head to bed..when I picked my barefoot up to step on the step it ZAPPED ME AND I FLEW TO THE GROUND LIKE A FLYING ROCKET! SERIOUSLY. As I layed there trying to figure out what just happened my sister is over me thinking I was seriously hurt or even dead but I keep saying I'm OK and sat up and asked "what just happened?" Tami said "you just flew to the ground, are you OK, between tears, are you hurt?" That was the first time I believe I knew my sister loved me for me!!
Well yesterday even though it wasn't a Zap it was a FACE TO THE GROUND FALL, YEP I laid flat out on the cement at my parents house and just laid there because again I said "What just happened!!!" As I laid there Tami again is over me *giggling* asking if I was OK..then the laughter came and all you older woman know when you start *giggling* we know what happens with the bladder, I could stop laughing then my MOM comes out and ask "What are you doing down there?" just like that is where I wanted to be at the moment and we busted out laughing and laughing and as I got up, and as you know older woman, it not easy, I just ripped one that I think my mother was embarrassed to here...sorry but OMG!!! As we sat there in laughter my whole body was just frozen, not knowing what was next and then Tami had to stop because she was feeling it to..I think we laughed for a good 20 minutes before I really got up and walked to the truck to go home with my hurt pride and my embarrassment..

I wanted to share this because if you can't laugh at yourself and look at the small stuff and not take everything serious life is full of laughter and that's what makes life more bearable.
I hope you enjoyed in my laughter as I look back this morning I'm still laughing and will be for awhile.

Just a little update

So..it's been awhile since I've posted..I've been busy with a few projects of my own lately..We did the photo shoot with Mark and Coco and the waiting of baby Isabella..we had a blast with these two.
Then I've been trying to keep busy and I've been trying to get my Dream Assignment done and edited so hopefully I'll have that up by this afternoon!
Then I've been doing some other projects around the house..been sanding, kiltzing, and pretty soon going to be painting..so you see I've been busy and staying out of trouble...haha

Just a update for my family that reads my blog...thank you very much!!!!
Ryleigh got HER report card on friday and for a 1st grader it's alot of S's E's and V's well as my family knows it is very exciting to see the growth in Ryleigh this year she really has come far and she is reading..yes my little girl is reading!!!! I've got to brag alittle here but she went from a 10% in the first marking period to a big 45% in the second grading period!!! whoohoot!!!!
Her math skills went from a S..satisfactory to a E..Excellent and her comprehension skills are on the rise also it went from a 10% to a 30%...I am just so extactic!

We've been working with Ryleigh on her reading and math and for christmas she got an easel that has a magnetic board on one side and chalk board on the other..and she is actually spelling words with her letters and we're also spending alot of time on writing the lower case letter, she's a little stuck on the upper and lower case letter..but I've got hope will accomplish this goal before summer!!!

Summer, omg it's just around the corner and I'm not sure about you but this cold weather is getting on my nerves!!! I'm ready for some warmer weather so we can get back outside again!

We were going to try are hand at growing some vegetables, so I've been wanting to go get a Tomato (several types), Cucumbers, and because Ryleigh loves her brocolli I'm going to try growing some...wish me luck!! Hopefull soon my DH will be getting the greenhouse up so I can grow them in there..

Taking Manual Control Over Your Digital Camera

When a camera is fully automated the computer is asked to control a number of extremely important tasks. It uses a combination of pre-installed data and real-time tests to generate an educated guess as how your photograph ought to be shot. For people who don’t care about learning how to use their camera, they accept these educated guesses as the best the camera can do, and if they want a better quality picture, they have to buy a better quality camera. This belief is, for the most part, untrue. While I do believe that a higher quality camera can produce higher quality results, I believe that any camera is capable of shooting a good picture as long as you can take control over how the photo is taken.
So, I’m going to make a statement that sounds simple, but really is something you need to believe if you want to improve your photographic skills:
You are smarter than your camera.
That’s it. That’s all you need to believe. Unfortunately, you’re going to need to prove it.
So what decisions should you make that your camera’s computer never should? The answer is actually quite simple. You need to control the most fundamental features that are the same now as they were fifty years ago: ISO, white balance (WB), aperture (Av), shutter speed (Tv), and focus. So I’m going to talk a bit about my thought process when setting these features manually. I don’t intend to teach you how to make the adjustments or what they are as there exists countless guides that do that already.

ISO & White Balance
These features derive from the properties of film emulsion. Every roll available has both a inherent white balance and ISO. Just be aware of how lucky you are that you can change these settings on the fly with a digital camera, and not have to buy a variety of film to accommodate every shooting scenario that may arise.

ISO : I love pure, bold color so I always aim for the lowest ISO possible. ISO is the first thing I set when entering into a shoot. I base my ISO on the shadows and dark areas of the scene, rather then the the ones that are heavily lit. All ISOs can expose well-lit subjects, but only high ISOs can expose dark areas. The second thing I look at is the speed of my lens. If I have a fast lens (i.e. f2.8) then I know I can push my ISO down a touch. I will also consider my subject. If my subject is static and I can shoot long exposures without risking motion blur then I’ll push my ISO lower, whereas fast-moving subjects require fast shutter speeds and often high ISOs.

WB : I ask myself: how many types of light are present? Which color of light is best to balance to? For instance, if I’m shooting outside then I’ll set my white balance to daylight (6000 degrees kelvin). If I’m shooting a home interior lit with daylight through open windows, and tungsten light from the interior fixtures, then I opt daylight and often use my flash to counteract the tungsten light. Sometimes I try to adjust all lighting so it’s the same color by using gels, swapping bulbs, etc. Other times it works nicely just to let all the different colors of light bee seen - like at crazy rock shows.

Aperture and Shutter
SpeedLike a fine balance, each must compliment the other. You cannot change one without affecting the other. These are the yin and the yang of photography. The symbols Av and Tv are often used which stand for Aperture Value and Time Value.

Av : I start by looking at my available light and get an idea of what aperture range I’m looking at. Lots of light means a broader range of choice. Second, I’ll think about the shot itself and what depth of field I want. If I want lots of detail at all depths, then I’ll drop it down as low as f22. If I want a soft background, with a refined range of focus, then I’ll open it up to f2.8 or larger. Sometimes you don’t have a lot of choice, so the wider (lower number) the better. That’s why lenses with apertures like a fixed f2.8 are so expensive - because they’ll benefit you in low light. It’s also important to consider your subject - fast moving subjects will require lower apertures, so you can achieve faster shutter speeds.

Tv : The length of the exposure has huge bearing on the outcome of a shot. I start by looking at my subject and whether or not I want them sharp or blurred. Some subjects like city traffic benefit from long exposures, while others suffer. I try to stay at 1/60 of a second or faster when I’m shooting handheld, and use a tripod for slower exposures. Stillness varies from person to person, and image stabilizers will help. Fast subjects require fast shutter speeds.

Manual Focus
Auto focus is very fast and often quite reliable. That being said, sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands. Be prepared to make adjustments at a moment notice.

MF : If my lens is struggling to find contrast in a shot, or focuses on the wrong thing, then it goes straight to manual. Most digital SLRs will even give you a audible or visual cue when you’re manually focused correctly. I try to avoid focusing on my subject center frame, and often try to manually keep my focus while reframing in accordance with the rule of thirds. Trusting my auto focus has ruined more shots than I can count. If you eyesight is a tad out, then make sure to set your diopter accordingly. Learn to trust your eyes.

Lighting is always an issue. Try to remember that side lighting gives you texture and detail, front lighting tends to make flat images, and backlighting creates silouettes. The best time to photograph outdoors is early morning or just before sunset. Just set you up some lights and a subject and practice taking different shots to see the effects. My favorite lighting is natural lighting. I hope this helps some. A great book to read is John Hedgecoe's The new manual of photography.

First, let me just say these are poor quality, I took them off an email I gotten and tried to get them to look better but!!! I can't believe these pictures, the first one is of me at Christmas back in the 90's I believe..the second is right after Ken and Tami moved down from michigan the first time and that was in 83, Wow look at that hair YIKES! and then the last is my senior picture back in 79-80..such a long time ago.

Here are a few more that I was able to get up too..our family picture taken at Karen's graduation in 1969 and then Nancy,Tami,Mom and me then Butch in the back that was sometime in the 90's and then the top one is of Tami's graduation in 1981 pretty bad quality but I thought I'd put it up.

Well, it's been awhile since I've really have sat down and wrote from my heart. I thought maybe I'd do that tonight.

I'm finding myself in such a fantastic state of mind these days. I feel like I'm being the person I need to be again and loving life as I need to love life. I feel like this cloud that's been over me has lifted and I can see the sunshine and it's making me very happy.

There have been people that have come into my life for a reason, and they come and go. The ones that are still around me are the friends that will always hold a special place in my heart and in my life.

There is so many things that I've learned this past year that has made me the woman that I am today. There are so many things that I won't take for granted or will let them hurt me or take away anything from my soul ever again.

It's funny how life is full of ups and downs..
More than once have I asked God to get me thru my low spots. Not really realizing that with my life altering experience I was being shaped into the woman that I am today. Without those trials and tribulations I'd be just an ordinary and plain person and not looking for the good in life.

As I sit here today..I like myself so much better today for having had to endure the pain. I can't help to think how high I am today without the perspective of how low I was.

The key is to face the challenges head on with grace, style and conviction. Not once stopping and looking back and move on to the good in life and share with your family and friends the real you.

A person who contributes the most important part of me...ME!

I love life again and nothing or noone will ever take that away from me again I won't allow it..I will speak up when I think things are wrong..I will remind you of the most smallest things but give you the biggest praise in any accomplishment that you deserve.

I'll be honest, trustworthy and the one that will give it to you straight up weather you want to hear it or not because if we tip toe around it, you go nowhere fast!

So, I'll sit back and enjoy the ride and thank God everyday for the blessings that he has given me.
